Bay Area Takes On Fellow 2010 US Open Cup Qualifier Sonoma Sol In Season Opener
PRLog (Press Release) – March 16th, 2011 – Hayward, CA – When FC Bay Area FC (2-2) faces archrival Sonoma Sol in its season opener, they will share one common element from the 2010 season. They were the only two teams that secured a position to play in the prestigious Lamar Hunt US Open Cup from the 2010 NPSL Western conference. In fact, the two teams were the only qualifiers from Northern California from the pool of all teams. But all that will be put in the back banner come Saturday evening April 2nd at the Chabot College Stadium. The two teams have been known to play an entertaining brand of soccer.
Bay Area FC General Manager Arif Khan said about the match up, “We are expecting a strong challenge from Sonoma; they are always a good side with good depth and play good possession soccer.”
The Bay Area FC is no stranger to Sonoma Sol. During the regular season, the Bay Area FC had a tie with Sonoma both home and away. However, Sonoma finished one of its worst seasons for 2010 failing to make the playoffs for the first time. Bay Area was successful in making the NPSL playoffs, playing in the US Open Cup and crowned as USASA Champions for Region IV (California, Washington, Arizona region).
This upcoming Bay Area derby with Sonoma will be sure to provide an exciting match as both sides are easily capable of victory. Regardless of the record these teams have against one another, this game can go either way. With both teams putting everything they have into this game, it is sure to be a spectacular match.
The kick off time is 6pm at the Chabot Galidator Stadium at 25555 Hesperian Blvd, Hayward Ca 94545. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for Youth and students. Kids U 12 are free. Parking is $2. Tickets may be purchased online at www.fcbayarea.com
