Ambassadors Omphroy & Jimenez Get MLS Draft
Feb 03, 2011 – The BayArea Ambassadors, a team that qualified for the US Open Cup qualifiers in 2010 are off to a thrilling start this season. The MLS drafted two of their players, Cal senior defender Demitrius Omphroy (Toronto FC chose him 26th overall), and senior midfielder Hector Jimenez (Los Angeles Galaxy, No. 34). Both players were drafted in the second round. There are several other players who are making a transition to pro teams in the U.S and abroad. The organization is excited about the progress in such a short period of time look forward to increasing its player base by recruiting new prospects and developing talents for its 2011 season.
“Demitrius Omphroy played for us the entire 2009 season and proved to be a very creative midfielder but has found his niche as an attacking defender. We are proud of the draft and wish him success with Toronto FC,” said GM, Arif Khan.
The Ambassadors are currently in preparation for its third season. The 2011 season kicks off on Saturday April 2nd at its home field, Chabot Stadium.
